A New Jersey man who started the Amazon union has been charged by police for jumping a barricade while protesting in front of the Met Gala main arrival tent earlier this week.
Christian Smalls, 37, of Lodi, New Jersey, was quickly arrested after he entered a restricted zone – Officers on the scene took him quickly into custody.
APB News was positioned 30 feet away when this all happened to capture this exclusive video.
Smalls was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and failure to obey a traffic device, the NYPD said.
Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1 said that Smalls’ actions and subsequent arrest were not connected to the union and that he has not been involved in the organization since August 2024.
