📍 June 2026 — Lower Manhattan, NY

Over 2 million fans flooded Lower Manhattan to celebrate the New York Knicks’ championship — and the historic ticker-tape parade quickly pushed the city to its limits. APB News was on the ground as fans climbed buildings, trees, scaffolding, and even police vehicles to catch a glimpse of the floats rolling up Broadway to City Hall.

The NYPD says viewing pens hit capacity by 7:30 a.m. — just 90 minutes after gates opened and three hours before the parade began — leaving hundreds of thousands turned away and surging through barricades along the route. By the end of the overnight hours: 63 arrests, 10 officers injured, four reported slashings/stabbings, and 61 people treated by FDNY (30 hospitalized), mostly for heat exhaustion.

But it wasn’t all chaos. Behind City Hall, the NYPD went the extra mile — helping a group of VIP fans pass hats, shirts, and banners to players for autographs. Now that’s true New York customer service.
