So here is what we know – The New York City Department of Buildings Commissioner confirmed to APB News that the emergency crews and contractors that worked all night successfully installed new heavy-duty cross beams to brace the damaged main beams.
Right now the construction crews are welding new galvanized steel supports to remove the weight load off the bent beams using state of the art laser monitoring systems which proved the building has stopped shifting and is completely stable.
An investigation by the Department of Buildings and assigned structural engineers has started to determine the exact cause of the partial top floor collapse before any vertical construction can resume.
Because the building has been stabilized, the initial frozen zones have been reduced to East 42nd and East 43rd streets between Second and Third avenues being blocked off.
Most of the neighboring residents have been allowed back into their homes while nearby buildings remain under strict evacuation orders while the engineers continue to investigate and monitor the top floors of the damaged building.
