New York’s Bryant Park displayed 2,753 empty chairs on 11 September 2026, each representing a person killed at the World Trade Center during the attacks 25 years ago.
The chairs faced south toward the former Twin Towers site. Visitors wrote notes upon entering the park to offer their personal thoughts and prayers – Then was handed a carnation to find an open chair to place and then reflect.
The installation remained open to the public all day which offered New Yorkers and visitors alike a place to pause, remember, and honor the lives that were lost.
