Just before 9 a.m., ahead of President Trump’s address to world leaders, about 30 activists marched into 2nd Avenue and 43rd Street, blocking rush-hour traffic outside the United Nations.
NYPD units cordoned off the intersection and issued three warnings to disperse. When the protesters refused, officers moved in, flex-cuffed them, and loaded them onto department buses.
Around 20 people were booked for disorderly conduct and obstructing traffic. All of them got desk appearance tickets and were released by early afternoon.
