Bryan Cranston and Idina Menzel were also among those up for top awards – but Denzel Washington, Michelle Williams, Daniel Radcliffe, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz were snubbed for Broadway’s biggest awards by the voters.
The nominators snubbed many of Hollywood-Broadway top stars, including Denzel Washington (“A Raisin in the Sun”), Daniel Radcliffe (“The Cripple of Inishmaan”), Zachary Quinto (“The Glass Menagerie”), Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart (“No Man’s Land” / “Waiting for Godot”), Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz (“Betrayal”) and James Franco (“Of Mice and Men”).
Franco recenty met his fans after a Sunday performance to sign autographs and take pictures. The NYPD assigned only one foot officer to manage crowd control with more thn 250 fans crowding outside the theatre side door.
The officer chose to berate and scream at the excited fans instead of calling for more units to assist to line the mostly young theatre goers in a manageable formation.
