More than 25,000 participants, including veterans of every conflict since World War II, participate in the march up Fifth Avenue to 52nd Street
The 2014 Veterans Day Parade went off as planned under the watchful eye of the NYPD and the NY State Police.
The annual event honoring America’s military heroes paid particular attention this year to the Marine Corps, the featured military branch.
And the grand marshal at Tuesday’s event was ex-NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly — a Marine lieutenant in the Vietnam War era. Kelly spent another 30 years in the reserves, retiring as a colonel.
