Final preparations are underway in New York City’s Times Square on New Years Eve as the NYC Police Department tightened the barricades and created limited walking lanes to discourage tourists and visitors from assembling in the center area facing number one Times Square where the decorated ball will drop at midnight.
The NYPD deputy commander says he will add more officers and undercover units to be prepared for possible demonstrations in addition to the usual holiday revelers.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low 30s.
