Monday September 29, 2025 - New York City: So now that Eric Adams has dropped out of the mayoral race, the questions are what will happen next. The mayor blamed his campaign’s inability to raise funds, pointing at the city’s Campaign Finance Board for denying him nearly four million dollars in matching public funds, which prevented him from running a high stakes campaign needed to compete in an unusual race. Then the rumors, whispers and denials that the Trump Administration was floating an ambassadorship or agency position to the former NYPD captain if he bowed out. All of that fizzled out when Adams sank in the polls while Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani, former Governor Andrew Cuomo remained consistent and republican candidate Curtis Sliwa vowed to stay in the race.
