September 2025 - Lower Manhattan NYC Elected officials modeled the runway wearing designers from their districts in a first-of-its-kind community engagement fundraising fashion show during New York Fashion Week. As a bipartisan fundraising fashion show, Style Across the Aisle, at New York County’s Surrogate’s Court, in lower Manhattan was created to unite opposing political viewpoints through the power of fashion, Style Across the Aisle helped to foster community spirit by featuring state and city leaders modeling styles brought to life from local designers. For the second year, political leaders from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints shared the runway, demonstrating that fashion can be a vehicle for dialogue, collaboration and understanding. NYC VIBE was invited by Skye Ostreicher, founder of Style Across the Aisle, to see first hand how this unique opportunity showcased the talent within the New York City communities while highlighting the common ground that exists beyond political differences. By having elected officials model designs from their own districts, Skye not only celebrated fashion but also fostering the spirit of unity and collaboration that New York needs. Front and center was former New York governor David Patterson, New York City Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry and Queens Borough president Donovan Richards who told Mike Levinthal afterwards he is deeply concerned with ICE activities in bogus boroughs and working closely with his diverse citizens to help protect them… Republican candidate for New York City Mayor Curits and Nancy Sliwa were backstage to meet the media and insisted he in the race to the end… Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, now running for New York City mayor on the independent line, took selfies and shook hands backstage and then took the runway in a blue suit by Gina Newman of Bond and Bari. The annual Style Across the Aisle benefits the non-profit Witness to Mass Incarceration which is dedicated to fostering economic independence for formerly incarcerated, system-impacted, and LGBTQ+ individuals. The Art of Tailoring which is a 2-year training program aimed at empowering formerly incarcerated individuals, system-impacted persons, LGBTQ+ youth, immigrants, and the asylum-seeking population. It consists of three different programs aimed at building entrepreneurial skills, developing essential tailoring skills, and expanding a growing business. Intrigue, Denials and Staredowns at the WABC Radio Foundation Annual Gala in Midtown Manhattan

Over the holidays, Dayle Haddon, supermodel, actress and advocate for the global education of girls, died from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in Pennsylvania. The 76 year old was the only model to have four major contracts as the face and international spokesperson for L’Oréal, Revlon, Estée Lauder and Max Factor. She posed for over 100 magazine covers and wrote two international bestsellers, and was a UNICEF Ambassador and who founded Women1One, a nonprofit devoted to creating positive change in the world by educating girls around the world. APB News caught up with Dayle in Saudi Arabia a few years ago at the gathering of living Nobel Peace prize winners to discuss and help try to solve the world's issues. Dayle’s daughter, Ryan Haddon, wrote a beautiful tribute to her mother. In part it reads: “In conversation, she could go to the deepest of places and also soar the highest heights of spiritual understanding. Alex Bruesewitz, one of president Donald Trump’s social media strategists, sparked concern after he collapsed on stage mid-speech. The audience gasped and cried out as he toppled over, bringing a lectern down with him, landing onto the guests table in front of the stage. APB News was on site and captured the moments before when Bruesewitz began to slur his speech and admitted he was "forgetting" his words. His eyes glazed over as he fell silent for a few seconds and he appeared to be unsteady on his feet. The 27-year-old, who worked on the Trump 2024 campaign with the mission to make Trump look cool with younger voters, had been introducing a gala award when he fainted. On the Runway - New York City's 'Style Across the Aisle' Brings Fashion & Politics Together

April 30. 2024 - Morningside Heights, NY: By APB Staff Crew DEVELOPING STORY Hundreds of New York City police officers descended on Columbia University Tuesday night to clear out the dozens of pro-Palestinian student protesters and outside groups who were on campus protesting the war in Gaza. The protestors along with demonstrators have been calling on schools to divest from companies doing business with Israel which many experts say is complicated and not really possible. The NYPD assembled around 9 PM and then entered Columbia's campus at the request of the university's president, Minouche Shafik, who authorized the NYPD to "clear all individuals from Hamilton Hall and all campus encampments." Within 30 minutes, police officers entered Hamilton Hall and zip tied the protesters hands behind their and led them off to awaiting buses to be processed. The school newspaper reported that members of the NYPD drew their hand guns when inside but that has not been confirmed. In a letter to the New York City Police Department on Tuesday, Shafik — who is facing mounting pressure to resolve this prior to graduation day - requested that officers maintain a presence on Columbia's campus "through at least May 17th to maintain order and ensure encampments are not reestablished." APB has been gathering footage all night long and has viewed posted videos showing officers shoving and dragging protesters. One protester could be seen falling down a set of steps outside of Hamilton Hall. A statement from a Columbia spokesperson said officers entered the campus at the university's request. "After the university learned overnight that Hamilton Hall had been occupied, vandalized, and blockaded, we were left with no choice," the spokesperson said. The action at Columbia on Tuesday came on the 56th anniversary of a similar clearing of an occupation of Hamilton Hall by civil rights and anti-Vietnam War protesters in 1968. As all of this unfolded, the NYPD was also called in to stop protests at The City College of New York, part of the City University of New York CUNY system. APB witnessed protesters in a standoff with officers outside the college's main gate, just blocks away from Columbia, and officers shoving some as they cleared people from the street and sidewalks. CCNY President Boudreau requested the NYPD to enter its campus, in part, as he explained in a letter to the NYPD posted online, because protesters had refused to take down a Palestinian flag they'd affixed to the campus flagpole. The flag was replaced by the American flag later at night.

The nearly 60,000 vaccinated concert-goers made their way out of the park to shelter from the rain which came down heavier and more bolts of lightning were seen followed by thunder across the Manhattan skyline. As a celebration of New York City’s comeback, the concert promoted health, safety, and equity. Jennifer Hudson, the star of the new Aretha Franklin biopic “Respect,” sang Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” that was — associated with Franklin after she sang it at the 1998 Grammy Awards. An exciting time was when the rap pioneer LL Cool J joined Busta Rhymes, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, French Montana, Melle Mel and Rev. Run of Run-DMC on stage to wow the crowd.
