He had a shotgun, a handgun, and knives in a black duffel bag — and a 10th-floor hotel room less than 100 feet from the President of the United States.

This is the man who almost pulled it off. His name is Cole Tomas Allen. 31 years old, from Torrance, California.

His targets? Trump administration officials, quote, “prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.” He wrote he was, quote, “no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” He framed it as a defense of the rule of law and in a strange twist, out of every senior official in the administration, he named just one he wanted spared – FBI Director Kash Patel.

Allen now faces federal charges — using a firearm during a crime of violence, and assault on a federal officer with a deadly weapon. More charges expected.

The President walked away. The country did not.
