APB Staff Writer
Thousands of New Yorkers gathered throughout the City on Saturday afternoon to celebrate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris passing the 270 electoral college threshold earlier in the day.
Large crowds started to show up in Columbus Circle, Times Square, Union Square, Washington Square Park, Stonewall Inn, the Barclay Center & Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn to sing, dance, hug each other and finally smile.
In Times Square, the NYPD kept a lane open for emergency vehicles to get by if needs which turned into a honking and flag waving car parade,
That night, all eyes were on the screens in Times Square to watch Biden’s victory speech setting the tone for what could come next.
US senator Chuck Schumer met his followers first in Brooklyn where he held out his mobile phone so Joe Biden could hear the crowd cheering – and then made his way to Washington Square Park before a walk through Times Square.
