[flv:/flv/apb_metronorth.flv 600 440] July 11th – Hundreds of passengers were trapped during Monday’s evening rush hour as a Metro-North train derailed pulling out of Grand Central Station. The train bound for Croton-Harmon, derailed just after departing at 6 p.m. The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit evacuated about 100 people from the first two cars of the train by having them climb ladders to the subway platform above the train tunnel. There were no injuries. Metro North did not know what caused one of the wheels on the second car of the train to slide off the tracks.
