The National Retail Federation forecasts that holiday retail sales during this holiday season will grow between 6% and 8% over 2021 to between $942.6 billion and $960.4 billion.
APB News took to Fifth Avenue to check out the holiday windows and to observe how the nYPD and its divisions are keeping New Yortklers and tourists safe.
From Bergdorf Goodman at 58th Street where quite possibly they are outdoing themselves this year, Bergdorf’s surreal holiday windows are centered on “the present moment”.
To Saks Fifth Avenue at 50th Street where this century old department store goes above and beyond mere window displays. In addition to its whimsical windows, the ten story building is draped in 700,000 LED lights.
After dark, a light show synchronized to music takes place every ten minutes.
Then off to FAO Schwarz at 30 Rockefeller Center where every day feels like Christmas at FAO Schwarz, one of the most famous toy stores in the world – back to life with its windows celebrating the spirit of the holidays with classic figurines and larger than life toys.
There is nothing like Cartier’s on Fifth Avenue at 52nd Street where it might be the best wrapped building in the world. Another jewel on the avenue is Tiffany’s at -57th Street and Louis Vuitton.
The NYPD says they are manning each block and watching from high above as well.
