The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is a 82-foot Norway spruce from Queensbury, New York, weighs approximately 14 tons with a 50-foot diameter. It is decorated with more than 50,000 multicolored LED lights and a dazzling Swarovski star topper that weighs more than 900 pounds and includes 70 spikes covered in three million crystals.
The NYPD has closed the cross streets in midtown touring the area into pedestrian zones allowing more visits to take a look at the tree and take safe photos.
Once the holidays are over, this tree will then be milled into lumber and donated to Habitat for Humanity to help provide housing for families in need.
