As Russia’s war on Ukraine is now in its seventh month, New Yorkers gathered in Central Park to celebrate the besieged country’s Independence Day with the unfurling of a massive Ukrainian flag.
The giant blue-and-yellow colors, event organizers claim this is the largest biggest Ukrainian flag in the world, was displayed in the park’s Sheep Meadow with hundreds on hand to witness the unfurling.
Chants of “Slava Ukraini,” which is “Glory to Ukraine,” echoed through the meadow during the celebration.
