Friday Afternoon, November 3, 2023 – Central Park, NYC:
It was a cool and brisk day at the finish line of the New York City marathon as many runners were in their final preparations for the big race on Sunday.
Upwards of 50,000 runners from more than 150 countries will take part in the race with at least a million spectators watching along the route.
After the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas, the New York City Police Department is taking every precaution. The Chief of the Department told APB News there are no credible threats against New York City or the marathon, but they remain vigilant as always.
When the runners cross into Central park and on the roadway to the finish line, they will see the Israeli flag on one side and the Palestinian flag on the opposite side – as part of the parade of nations recognizing every country where the runners have come from.
Today, all was quiet with the runners focusing on their final warm ups and preparations for what will hopefully be a great day for all participants.
